New Mexico Irish Music Sessions

Traditional Irish Music Open Session (Albuquerque)

Time: Thursday, weekly, 7-9:30 pm
Location: Hops Brewery Los Ranchos Taproom: 7222 4th St NW Rear, Los Ranchos De Albuquerque, NM 87107 (Map)

All are welcome to the Albuquerque Open Irish Music Session, held each Thursday at 7pm, at Hops Brewery Los Ranchos Taproom, in Los Ranchos De Albuquerque on 4th Street. We play traditional Irish tunes from the standard repertoire: jigs, reels, hornpipes, waltzes, etc, and sing songs. We tend to play tunes in sets, from memory, at traditional tempos. Musicians under 18 are encouraged to attend, but will need to be accompanied by a parent.  Food and drink are available.

First Saturday Beginner Hosted Slow/ Moderate Session (Albuquerque)

Time: 1st Saturday of each month, 12-2pm
Location: High and Dry Brewing: 529 Adams St NE, Albuquerque, NM (Map)
Host: Barbara Herrington, Doug Cowan, Harlow Pinson

Based on feedback from the group, this Session will transform into a more MODERATE session rather than a strictly SLOW session, which hopefully will work for beginners as well as longer term players. We’ll pick tunes from the list (contained in both the first and third Saturday music books) and you can work on getting up to speed for the third Saturday session, which will be faster and also include an “open” portion where any tunes can be called.
